Admissions Steps Overview

NLTCC is an open-admissions College and serves individuals including but not limited to recent high school graduates, current high school and home-schooled students through dual enrollment, veterans, adults seeking a high school equivalency diploma, adults returning to school for a new career or for advancement, and individuals seeking personal development.

Follow these steps to become enrolled at Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College. Should you need any assistance along the way, please contact Student Services.

Step 1: Apply to NLTCC

  • Complete NLTCC's Online Admissions Application.
    • Admission to the college does not guarantee enrollment in courses for a particular program.  Please review Program Specific Requirements and/or contact Student Services for additional information.  
  • Submit Required Documents
    • Proof of Immunizations or Waiver
    • Proof of Selective Service Registration (if applicable)
  • Optional Documents: 
    • High School transcript (required for Financial Aid)
    • An official college transcript(s) from colleges/institutions you previously attended, if you will be transferring credit or using credit toward fulfilling pre-requisites. (You must have earned a "C" or better for credit to transfer.)
      • Transcripts must be submitted in the following ways:
        • In a sealed envelope from the college/university; or,
        • Mailed directly from the college.


Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid 

  • It is not required, however all students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA each academic year to determine eligibility for aid, loans, scholarships, TOPS, etc.


Step 3: Complete Testing/Placement Measures (if applicable)

  • Submit a copy of your high school transcript or equivalency diploma showing successful completion of high school curriculum to have placement testing waived for applicable programs. 
  •  If applicable, complete Testing/Placement Measures.
    • Placement testing maybe waived if previous ACT/SAT/COMPASS/ACCUPLACER test scores are submitted to Student Services and meet the program entrance requirements.  Please visit Student Services for more information about taking the ACCUPLACER (Classic, New Generation) test. Use the codes below to have CLEP, SAT, and AP scores sent to NLTCC.

Step 5: Pay Tuition and Fees or Make Payment Arrangements

  • NLTCC offers several payment methods including:
    • Online payment, payment in person, or check/money order
    • Installment Payment Plans help you spread the cost of college over several payments
    • Financial Aid will be applied to your student account
