Job placement is exceedingly important to Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College. The Student Services professionals and the College faculty provide career assessment, counseling, and planning along with career and job resources. We also assist employers in finding and recruiting NLTCC students and graduates for employment opportunities. NLTCC sees career services as a part of the total educational experience and the faculty and staff will support this experience by providing services and information from the pre-enrollment phase all the way through the educational process and beyond graduation.
All occupational program curricula include units of study in employability skills. Students are instructed in job-seeking and job-keeping skills. Students study career planning, job application forms, interview techniques, and resume preparation to enhance their future job search. Study of proper work habits, employee/employer relationships, and personal character traits show students how to keep a job. Career Fairs are also offered on each campus each year.
The campuses of Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College provide counseling services that promote the overall educational programs and help students strengthen communication skills, establish goals, and adjust to their academic and social environment. Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College takes seriously its responsibility to accommodate students with documented disabilities. Student Services professionals at each campus location take pride in the high quality of service provided to help students with disabilities find success at Northwest. The office ensures that eligible students receive proper classroom modification and serves as a liaison between faculty and students. Medical or psychological documentation is required to recognize a disability.
NLTCC provides a variety of support services in compliance with Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, the Americans Disabilities Act. Services are available to any student with a documented learning, physical or psychological disability. All students, faculty, and staff are required to have an ID card visible while on campus. The cost of the initial ID is $5.00. This fee is paid during the registration/orientation process to Students Services and are issues during registration.
At some campuses, key cards are also issued during registration and are for the student’s use only to access buildings after hours in compliance with their official calls schedule and subsequent study needs. Students must report a lost or stolen key card immediately to the admissions office. Replacement cost is $5.00. When a student graduates or resigns from the College, the key card must be turned in.
There are designated areas for faculty, staff, students, visitors and accessible parking on each campus. Parking for all NLTCC students is restricted to the designated areas for students. Students are not authorized to park in the faculty, staff, or visitors parking areas.
Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College places the highest priority on the safety of faculty, staff, students, visitors. We rely on community members to share our commitment and actively participate in creating a safe and secure living, learning, and working environment.
Each employee and student at Northwest LTCC receives a written copy of the college Safety Rules which are also posted at each campus location. These rules are enforced by the instructor and, if necessary, the Campus Dean. In addition to general safety rules, each department or shop has rules pertaining to that area which are frequently discussed in classes and in safety meetings. The College also engages in monthly reviews to promote safety and utilizes a Safety/Housekeeping Inspection Checklist.

In order to assure compliance with Public Law 102-542, the Student Right-to-Know Act, and the Campus Security Act of 1990, NLTCC publishes the Annual Security Report of Crime Statistics. The report contains statistics of occurrences of crimes such as murder, sexual offenses, burglary, and hate crimes that have occurred on campus as well as statistics for the number of arrests made on campus for liquor law violations, drug abuse violation, weapons possessions, and hate crimes. We want you to have the best educational experience possible in your time as a student with Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College. In most instances, situations can be resolved by reviewing the processes for certain actions. However, iIf you experience a problem, or have a concern or complaint, you may inform any staff member and expect prompt assistance. NLTCC strives to resolve student grievances, complaints and concerns in an efficient, fair, and amicable manner. It is the responsibility of the complainant first to attempt to resolve the matter with the institution. Complaints regarding any aspect of NLTCC’s operations will receive prompt attention. The Incident Reporting/Student Concern Form can be used to submit concerns either general or academic, report incidents, concerning or threatening behavior, sexual harassment or student welfare concerns.
NLTCC College has established guidelines and standards for student grievances. A grievance is a complaint about the conditions or policies within the College or a complaint about the actions of employees, students, or instructors within the College that affect the environment for the aggrieved student. NLTCC seeks to solve grievances as close to the source of the concern as possible.
In brief, NLTCC adheres to grievance procedures utilizing an informal and/or a formal process. If the complaint is against a student, discuss the problem with the student’s instructor or department head in which the student is enrolled. If the complaint is about an instructor or another college employee, discuss the problem with the instructor or employee first, then the Director of Student Services, then the Assistant Campus Dean, and lastly the Campus Dean. If a satisfactory solution is not reached using informal procedures, the grievance may file a formal grievance for resolving the matter. In cases where sexual harassment is the basis for the complaint, the NLTCC sexual harassment policy and grievance procedure will be utilized. Informal and formal grievance procedures are outlined for students and parents. All grievances should be presented within ten days from the date the grievant became aware of the cause of such grievance. The grievance should try to resolve the problem first by discussing the problem with the individual who is the cause of the complaint, if possible. If the complaint is against a student, discuss the problem with the student’s instructor or department head in which the student is enrolled. If the complaint is about an instructor or other college employee, discuss the problem with the instructor or employee first, then the individual over Student Services, then the Assistant Campus Dean, and lastly the Campus Dean. If it is inappropriate to present the complaint directly to that individual, then the grievant should discuss the complaint with the appropriate individual. If a formal complaint is required, the student should use the College’s Discrimination/Harassment Complaint Form.
While the employees listed below are ‘Confidential Advisors’ for their respective campuses, all NLTCC employees are responsible employees. According to OCR’s 2001 Guidance, a responsible employee includes any employee: who has the authority to take action to redress sexual violence; who has been given the duty of reporting incidents of sexual violence or any other misconduct by students to the Title IX coordinator or other appropriate school designee; or whom a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.

Voter Registration Information Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College encourages all students to register to vote in State and Federal Elections. Voter Registration and Election Date information for the State of Louisiana can be found at Louisiana Secretary of State Website. Office of Student Services at each campus will help students to answer the questions and fill out the application forms. NLTCC’S ADA Coordinator provides one-on-one assistance with completing and submitting Voter Registration forms to students with disabilities on an ongoing basis and during authorized voter registration periods.
